As mentioned in my last post, ManitobaMusic.com held its annual showcase in Manhattan last night, at Arlene’s Grocery on the lower east side. It was a great night of live music, with four talented acts taking the stage–The Magnificent Sevens, JP Hoe, Chic Gamine, and Greg MacPherson–and a good crowd in the comfortable venue. Happy to share some photos I took during the showcase.

The Magnificent Sevens play a prairie-tinged sort of bluegrass, driven by acoustic bass, banjo and twinned guitars.

JP Hoe brought cello, violin, as well as bass and drums, to compliment his strong voice and songwriting.

JP Hoe’s current album is called “Mannequin.”

With great verve and electric stage presence, Chic Gamine perform an energetic melange of anglophone, francophone, and First-Nation tinged rootsy pop with great vocals.
