- The mother of a Rumanian art thief burned masterpieces by Picasso, Matisse, Monet, Gauguin, Lucian Freud and Meyer de Haan that her son had stolen, crazily thinking this would forestall his prosecution (from the New York Times);
- Xenophobic yahoos hated on New York City-born, US citizen of Puerto Rican descent, Marc Anthony for singing “God Bless America at the Major League All-Star game (reported thoroughly with the jerks’ tweets on the tumblr blog Public Shaming;
- Novelist Jonathan Franzen has reported in National Geographic on the horrifying abuse of songbirds in some Mediterranean and Balkan countries. Captured and killed for food, sport, and display the people doing this have plainly never learned the lesson that Atticus Finch taught Scout (from CBC Radio One’s The Current and National Geographic.
